The Executive Committee is pleased to confirm that Mark Fangen-Hall will be taking up a complementary role to his Mercantile head coach  duties.

Mark will commence a 12 month contract with Melbourne Grammar School as Director of Coaching. Mark will not be coaching a designated crew, rather have lead oversight on the overall program. We are pleased with this exciting development on 2 principal points.

1)      Currently Mark has a contract with Mercantile as head coach until after the Brazil Olympics in 2016. We see this relationship with MGS as an enhancement to Mark’s career which may aid Mark’s tenure with Mercantile past 2016.

2)      We have proven over many generations of coaches and successful crews  that close relationships with rowing schools is good for the schools, the rowers and for Mercantile. Mercantile will continue to foster with determination ongoing close relationships with all rowing schools including our sub tenants.

In addition  to this development, we are working on future planning that may enable a full time assistant head coach to be appointed later into 2013. This step would further enhance the coaching availability of our members.

We ask all members to join the Executive Committee to support this exciting  development in the Mercantile coaching network.

Due to exams, Coach McGrath will be unable to attend Monday, Wednesday and Thursday’s sessions.

Addy will start some on water training in the single latter this week.

If you are injured or have a concern about the training load you should speak with your coach and we will factor this into our plan. What you should not do is decide you can’t do all the training and pull yourself off the camp.

Originally the cost was based off 24 athletes but this as now expanded so I am awaiting a new quote however based off 24 the cos was going to be less than $25 each for the two nights. We will add on $5 for petrol. As soon as I know total cost based off new numbers I will pass this on.

This season NO ONE WILL GO ON CAMP UNLESS YOU HAVE PAID UP FRONT         We are still chasing people for costs from last season and I am no longer willing to let the club, which has no financial means, to credit you with accommodation and other charges associated with  your training. As always we will aways find you the very best deals to keep costs at a minimum.
