ABOUT

Mercantile has a proud tradition of exceptional performance on the international stage.  In the past 30 years, Mercantile Rowing Club has lived up to its nickname as the “Mecca of rowing".

There have been gold medals for Mercantile athletes at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, 1996 Atlanta Olympics, 2004 Athens Olympics, 2008 Beijing Olympics and a myriad of World Championships in between.  Whilst not gold, a Mercantile women’s pair won silver in London in 2012. Names such as Dunkley Smith, Morrison, Werry, Cooper, Tomkins, Ginn, Crawshay, Tait and Hornsey are not only legends within the club, but part of Australian sporting folklore.
