Above: Preparing for great win in 2015 Mercantile B eight Head of the Yarra

Jayden rowed at Carey Grammar in their 2012 and 2013 first crews. After a year off, he then joined Mercs in 2014. As he joined half way through the season, he suffered the disappointment of not making the youth eight that year but still achieved a couple of medals at the 2015 Nationals – silver in the under 21 quad and a bronze in the Mercs lightweight eight.

2015 Nationals – lightweight eight presentation

He set his sights on a good 2015-16 season and then on an even better rowing career thereafter. A win in the under 23 lightweight four at the 2016 Nationals is the immediate aim given the great lightweight squad at Mercs. A win in an all Mercs lightweight eight is also up there given that they row it every Wednesday morning. “The lightweight squad is building up nicely.”

Why Mercs? The people, the culture, the developing lightweight squad.

Why rowing? Much the same as above but being around people with similar goals and the support.

Best race – Silver medal at 2014 Uni Games in the Monash Mens eight.
