From the vaults - early boat transport to Rutherglen.
Mercantile not only travelled by train, but also used trucks. On this trip a record load of 4 one piece eights, 4 fours and three pairs, plus all the tents and camping gear.
Clearly such a long load with massive overhang would not be allowed these days. At least the driver would have been well shielded from the sun!
